Posted December 26, 201113 yr Hi Big problems with my laptop - now given up trying to recover HDD (which had XP Pro installed) and I'm going to upgrade to Windows 7. My question is will an 'upgrade' version of Win 7 work as a fresh install and at some point ask for my XP Product Key or can I only upgrade if I have a working (as opposed to a non-working) version of XP, albeit with a Product key ?
