Here's a puzzle for you. I purchased an HP Pavillion Elite mid 2009 64 bit with Vista. The purchase came with upgrade to Win 7 (not yet then released). The disks arrived late 2009-upgrade disk and Windows 7 install. No product key was on a separate paper or envelope. There is a part # on the upgrade disk, but MS told me they couldn't look it up by that! Anyway, I filed them to do later. Late 2011 (after finally moving my many pics and docs) I loaded 7. It appears to have loaded fine, but MS is giving me 27 days now to come up with an upgrade/product key. I've spent literally hours on the phone and email with both MS and HP only to be told there is nothing for them to do. They have done a poor job of providing service, and a great job of passing the buck.

There is no product key/upgrade key within the disk itself? The key is not stamped on the outside on the disks. No, the key is put on a flimsy piece of paper or on a sleeve and if it isn't in the package, then you have to BUY a replacement when you've already purchased it once-what kind of technology (or customer service, for that matter), is that? I've resorted to looking through the files on the disks, but really??? Tell me what to do, techs. :-)
