Microsoft updates pushed to system, now some java scripts (login scripts) on websites do not...

Microsoft pushed a bunch of updates onto my system - and now I am unable to log into some web sites that are using java scripts for their logon processing.

I had the problem with IE8:

Checked for rogue versions the jscript.dll, none found.

dll is in the windows\system32 and the windows\syswow64 directories

I checked the forums and it was recommended to register the dll again. I did that via regsrv32 and using the full path to both directories. Rebooted. No joy.

Then found that it could be a setting in IE. I went to Tools > internet options > security > custom level > "Active Scripting" , but Enable was already checked.

I then upgraded to IE9 to see if that might resolve the issue for me. No joy. Still there.

So - any pointers greatly appreciated. I have some sites I just can't log into with IE any more - and have to use firefox.
