Posted December 20, 201113 yr Windows XP SP3. In Performance Monitor I have set a Logical disk % free alert on my local computer. The Action is to send a message to my local computer if triggered. The alert works and an entry is logged in the System Log. However, the message can't be delivered per the "Send a network message to" to my local computer. The System Log entry says "The service was unable to send a message for the alert drive C percentage free to machine COMPUTERNAME. The alert will continue as scheduled. The error returned is: The message alias could not be found on the network. The computer is a domain member. I have the messenger service started. Machine is in DNS and I can ping by the machine name. net send fails as well with the same error "The message alias could not be found on the network". Does it use port 139? Port 135 is open, but 139 does not appear to be open per my port scanner utility. I don't see that it is being block in my local firewall. This used to work. Any help would be apprecaited.
