Posted December 20, 201113 yr I have two web sites which are at two different domain Website1 makes a cross domain call to Website 2 to load a part of the website in an iframe. Website2 has a dropdown which does not open and gives a script error which is an access denied error for an .htc file I tried to search on internet and found that a similar issue was there with internet explorer 7 due to the security patch KB2586448 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After you install this security update, some drop-down lists and combo boxes do not appear in Internet Explorer 7. If a webpage hosts another webpage that is in a different domain, and the hosted webpage has window restrictions enabled (default configuration) and contains a select control such as list or combo box when the hosting page tries to display the combo box or drop-down value from the hosted page, the combo box or list is not displayed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ But in our case its happening in IE8. I tried the workaround mentioned for IE 7 and that fixed our issue. The workaround for this problem is to enable “Allow script-initiated windows without size or position constraints” option for the Internet sites zone. But this workaround is against our security policy. We also tried to uninstall the security patch, that also resolved our problem. But again this workaround is not advisable Now, i also had one more situation in which there are two machines having same IE8 version 8.0.7600.16385. And the problem is when we try to access the websites it works fine for machine 1 and does not work fine with machine 2. Internet explorer in both machines has been reset to their default condition using Internet Options->Advanced->Reset. We checked the registry - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Settings\Internet Settings - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Settings\Internet Settings No difference. We are looking for the difference in the machine 1 which makes our website work fine there. Can somebody guide us as to what could be the difference or what workaround can we apply to resolve our problem Continue reading...
