Problem log in to win 2k server from windows seven

Hi,

We have a win 2k server feeding 6 machines that were running either XP or vista. We had a machine go down and replaced with a windows 7 home premium machine. I could join the workgroup and see the other machines but I could not log-in to map a drive. Microsoft suggested we may need windows 7 pro to do this. So I brought my personal machine in from home that came with windows 7 pro in to be sure. I had to set the policies to LM/NTM (option 1) I believe. then I was able to login and map drive fine. So I took machine back home and went out and bought upgrade for new machine we had bought and upgraded to windows pro 7. but I come right back to the same issue on new machine. it will not let me login properly. it already prefills the user name And prompts me for password. when it works right it will ask for for the username and password. please advise?
