How can i find out why my c drive cannot be accessed?

When I try to delete a program or install one, I always get the message that "access is denied" to my C:/ drive. I am performing the function as a 'generic' user, but am prompted to enter the pswd for the administrator, which I am also, but not logged on as it.

I have no idea if I am Beta/Not.
