I am working in an organisation with about 1500 computers, and different laptops.

We have a lot of Lenovo t500, t400, t520, and some Dell Latitudes and vostro as well.

So i am trying to make an Hardware independed windows 7 image with updates, i am using imagex and wim files to make those images. The main problem is display drivers. Here is what i did to make an base image:

1 install win 7 on a reference computer with updates, then take image of that configuration, and then use aik - dism to inject all the driers, that worked almost perfect but still problems with some display driver.

2 install reference computer, install drivers, then take image, then take e new model install the wim file from the first reference computer and update drivers for my new model, taht worked from Dell Vostro to an Lenovo t520, but when i try my Acer Extenza with amd technology it doesnt work, but thats ok, if i try to take another model and use the reference 2 image everything works but the displaydriver.

Is there any best practice for making a hardware independed image in windows 7, and yes i have googled a lot but no solution yet.

Ps the problem is that windows 7 does not use the display driver but the generic built in display driver for some models.
