Posted June 8, 201113 yr Hi guys, Some advice please. I have bought a copy of Windows server 2008 from Phoenix Software for our school and i had to down load it as well as the licences etc. I have burnt the files to disk but the server with a new hard drive wont let me boot from CD/DVD. I had downloaded the free trial and that lets me boot from disk. Am i doing something wrong? My other question is now i have the correct product code for Server 2008 can i put that in on the trial version to make it a full working OS? Thanks for looking at my problem guys. Scott
June 9, 201113 yr FPCH Admin You can install the trial version. Just make sure you install the correct version of the software. If you bought standard select the standard version, if you bought web select it. Start the install and when it gets to the product key don't put one in. The next step will ask which version you want to install. Select the correct one for your license. Once the install completes right click my computer and at the bottom there will be a link to change the product key. Click it and put in the product key for the version you bought. Once you do that it will ask if you want to activate. Click yes and in a few minutes you should have a fully activated copy of server 2008. Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
June 9, 201113 yr Author Hi, Thanks for the quick reply, I have installed the standard version as thats what key i have and its worked. Just cant understand why when i download the Windows Server 2008 R2 from Microsoft it wont boot from CD. Any how i have it installed now. thanks again for getting in touch :)
June 9, 201113 yr You should create a bootable DVD in order to be able to boot :) A simply copy / paste doesn't work. -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais.
