So since you haven't had a problem with malware, that means

there isn't a problem ?

I haven't had a problem either, but I don't deny the existance

of the problem.

You have 20-30 years of experience in the computing

field/computers........ how many years does the average 10-12

year old have ?

I've got no moving violations in my driving career, so no one

else gets tickets ?

Another difference is that Windows 7 needs at least a gig of memory when

it's idle. Ubuntu only needs around 400 megs.

And how did you determine that little gem of wisdom? By using the

Ubuntu furnished Gnome System Monitor? If so My Ubuntu almost always

reads 20% of memory and 0 % of swap space, or approximately 800 meg of

memory.

4 gigabytes = 4 X 1024 X 1024 X 1024 Right? Or are there some 1000's

in the calculation somewhere? Well, to avoid an argument, call it

4,000,000,000 X .2 = 800,000,000...

How come your Ubuntu uses so much less memory then mine? Or are you

LOL I have been saying that for some time now, and I STILL maintain that

MS should have adopted the USEFUL parts of Compiz and/or OSX desktop

effects, and just absorbed the flack from purest A-holes. The GENERAL

user would love it and care less about the origins. As it is they STILL

didn't write in hot corners to activate Flip 3d etc. Dopes, one still

has to DL 3rd party apps to do it and other things.

While virtual desktops is useful for many, I myself don't have much use

for them. However, MANY love that feature in Linux. There are clunky 3rd

party apps to do that in Winders, but as usual they suck up resources,

and are as smooth in implementation as a New York City road. LOL I

installed an expose, or in Linux it is called Scale app in Win7 and

while very useful, is WAY choppy/clunky compared to the Compiz version

on the same machine.

Agreed.

Way agreed. I thought Win7 would be more improved, but alas no. I really

don't know what posesses the MS developers, but they just can't seem to

get it right in very important areas.

> Internet speeds

>

Agreed again. I surf WAY faster in Linux with Firefox, but then I surf

way faster in Win7 with Firefox than IE. lol

>

Slightly on my machines, but not enough to be annoyed either way.

> Safe surfing

WAY LOL (Enter the Frankenmonkey to attempt to debunk facts.) At My main

place of employment, they CONSTANTLY fight with Winders and security

problems regardless the elite security crap programs they install. I

just sit back and laugh.

I'm not a "gamer" as I have WAY more important things to attend to, thus

my rare appearance here, But between Linux and Winders, I get what I may

need for temp distractions.

Yes I totally agree, however if you install Wally in Linux and get some

awesome wallpapers, you too can have wallpaper sideshows in Linux. No

big deal. BUT, WTF is the deal with NO decent sound schemes in Linux??

Particularly Ubuntu? It seems they don't give a rat's a** about any of

that ear-candy. (Scull candy?)

Well to just buy the OS isn't all that bad for the latest ver, but add

all the needed stuff for many people then yeah, the cost goes up

exponentially.

I do like Win7 MUCH better than the previous releases and use it as

needed, but for various reasons will still use Linux for other needs. I

like 'em both and use them for the best of BOTH worlds. A-holes that

can't grasp that concept are just sad, narrow-minded dopes, that are one

dimensional morons.

You sure that you aren't spoofing us, are you? Or do you mean that the

more or sell 160 tasks that are normally running in a Subunit

installation are "idle".

And I still suggest that you are blowing smoke. Try "top" and report

back. I have 906,284 bytes of memory in use with nothing but "top"

running and you are telling me that you have less?

Or you read that in a magazine somewhere and are repeating it because

you don't know how to tell what your system is doing?

Using TOP, it's more RAM, 800 MB. I wonder why it's different when using

the System Monitor which shows half that. Nonetheless, it's less than

Win 7 uses and Ubuntu is much quicker to open programs than Windows 7.

BTW, if you don't stop accusing me of theft and lying and if you don't

stop your nit picking crap, you'll join Frank in the ignore section.
