jan24 Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Hi, I try to install Windows Small Business Server 2008. When i try that it fails to install i get a error (this error will be in the attachment). I tried different versions of Windows Small Business Server 2008, these versions i tried: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/nl-nl/details.aspx?FamilyID=537ac5b3-9ac2-4667-916b-99928bca9f70 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=537ac5b3-9ac2-4667-916b-99928bca9f70 (Windows Small Business Server 2011 gives same error) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/gg492833 As u can see they are all from Windows so that should be good i guess? I am trying to run it in a Virtual Machine with VMware Workstation. I also tried it with VirtualBox en VirtualPC they give all the same error. I hope somebody can help me out with this problem. This problem i have already for a few days that i can't fix. Thanks in advance. Greetz, Jan24 Quote
ICTCity Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Hi, Are you installing it from CD-ROM? If yes, please do the followings steps: Download the installer from MS (it should be an ISO file). Open VmWare or virtual box or virtual pc and install the OS from the ISO directly instead of the CD-ROM. If this works, you have a (hardware) problem with your CD-ROM drive. Thanks for your quick response. I use the ISO of all versions directly i dont use my CD-ROM drive. I also runned the test of he found any errors in the ISO but he said he didnt found anything (at every ISO version). Quote

I mean, if you install on a phisical machine or virtual machine, it doesn't change anything? Try to remove any un-needed USB. Try to plug in just your keyboard, mouse and video. Nothing else. jan24 Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 I assume you're installing from cd-rom, try to change your drive... I tried from installing it from CD-ROM drive and directly from the ISO. Both give the same error. Quote
ICTCity Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Disable your antivirus and download the ISO again. Maybe your hard drive has a problem... jan24 Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 Disable your antivirus and download the ISO again. Maybe your hard drive has a problem... It will be hard to believe that the problem is at the ISO while i got that problem at 3 different ISO's. I have tried it with my antivirus (NOD32) disabled and still the same error. Quote
ICTCity Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I know... But now the last thing I can say is that you may have a problem related to your motherboard or hard drive... Can you replace them? jan24 Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 I am getting the same error on a other PC. So i guess it isn't the motherboard or the hard drive. EDIT: I am able to install Windows SBS 2003. I am also able to install Windows Server 2008. The problem goes at Windows SBS 2008 only. Quote

ICTCity Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 you have some problem with compatibility, probably with drivers because your error tells you there's something wrong with I/O that is the data flow... I never installed a server os on a laptop... Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. Du kannst auch auf Deutsch schreiben. So far i checked all drivers are up to date. Quote
ICTCity Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 why not use server 2k8 instead of sbs? Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. jan24 Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 why not use server 2k8 instead of sbs? It's for Remote Web Workplace, that is only available in a SBS. Quote

ICTCity Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 just to be sure... You have at least 60 GB and your PC supports 64-bits os, correct? For the installation on VM it's a different story. Let me know. jan24 Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 Sorry for late response i was trying all kind of different things out. Later i found out that on my system i had Windows 7 32 bit installed. While Windows SBS 2008 only runs on 64 bit (DOH!). So i reinstalled my laptop with 64 bit now, but i still get the same error. My laptop is: Acer Aspire 6530G BIOS: PhoenixBIOS v0.3216 I can't find in my bios to enable the VT technology. There isn't any advance tab to change things in. Quote
ICTCity Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Hi, After googling a bit, I found that there are many people that have this problem. Take a look here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/480992-acer-laptop-phoenix-bios-bios-mod-request-157.html Here's the guide to enable the VT, anyway, pay attention, it looks a bit tricky. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBUQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mediafire.com%2F%3Fcsey87y4la6bu58&rct=j&q=How%20to%20unhide%2Funlock%20hidden%20menu%20in%20Phoenix%20BIOS%20Setup%20Menu&ei=qjMITuuSOYT3sga7jdXUDA&usg=AFQjCNEWBD-q3UOECbV7GRI9zrKf3bwkYQ&sig2=vKrhXfow6IE2rMudxYvOAg&cad=rja Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais.
