Hi Eleanor,

Hit ctrl+shift+escape to open Task Manager. On the processes tab, locate

explorer.exe and select it, then click 'end process'. This should clear the

desktop save the background. Now move to the applications tab and click on

'new task'. Type in explorer.exe and click ok to reload the desktop. Try

clicking on some icons, does it work now? If so, then you have something

loading at boot that is interfering with the desktop.

Can't click desktop icons

For some reason, since yesterday, I haven't been able to click on any of my

desktop icons. I also can't right click on my desktop or anything. I can

right click on websites and things, but for some reason I can't do it on my

desktop.

I'm running on (a pretty new) laptop. From the little touchpad icon at the

bottom of the screen, I can see that the right click button goes on when I do

it, but there is no response. I'm running on Microsoft Vista Home Premium.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,Well, that's only half the problem.

Hi,

Well, that's only half the problem. You still need to look at what's loading

at boot and interfering.

It can be fun to make a screenshot of a desktop with a couple of icons on

it, and make that the wallpaper. You can fool even experienced users for a

bit.
