Greetings, group. I used to have my Windows 2000 set up so that

when I double-click a file icon with unknown extension, it would

open in a binary editor called "HxD". On right-clicking a file

of unknown type, the top few entries on the context menu were:

Edit in HxD (boldface)

Edit in Neo (lightface)

Edit in NoteTab (lightface)

But recently, when I double-click a file of unknown type, the

"choose a program to open this file" box pops up instead.

And on right-clicking the file, I get:

Open (boldface) (launches "choose program" box)

Edit in HxD (lightface)

Edit in Neo (lightface)

Edit in NoteTab (lightface)

My registry branch HKLM\Software\Classes\*\Shell doesn't have

a key called "Open". So where is this "Open" coming from?

It didn't used to be there. What other places in the registry

could be causing this?
