Posted August 15, 200717 yr I have a client I'm working with to solve his Internet connection issues. He's using a laptop with Vista Ultimate on it. When he has it in the office and he plugs into his LAN - he'll get a dialog box asking what type of connection. he chooses "work" and it works fine. He gets an IP from his DHCP and is able to log into the domain and see other computers on the netowrk and surf the web. No problems there. When he takes his laptop home - he chooses "home" for the type of connection. However, he only gets the nasty 169.x.x.x IP address preventing him from surfing the web. We tried wireless and wired connection. His other desktops in the house - work fine and get an IP directly from his router. His laptop - nothing. Even giving it a static IP address (wireless and wired) - still nothing. Any ideas? Thanks.
