Posted May 11, 201113 yr Hi We have setup Terminal Server and have everything working and client's printers are mapping fine, but the issue we are having is that when user remote desktop into the server the printers are not copying the printing perfernces settings to the server and when user changes this when logged in to the server it does not keep the setting after logging off either. Does anyone know how to sort this issue out?

Does anyone know how to sort this issue out? Try to add the MANAGE PRINTER permission to the users. If you deploy printers with GPO, I don't know the resolution. I had the same problem and finally I had to manually (or via script) map the printer from the control panel. But in my case everything worked with a script :) -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. Du kannst auch auf Deutsch schreiben. May 12, 201113 yr Author Sorry explain how you did it. Notice when logged on it not taking the security from Client printer on the remote server either.
May 12, 201113 yr Once a user is logged on via TS, open the control panel > printers > add network printer and map connecting trough the print server. -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. May 12, 201113 yr But this is defeats object of having mapped printers on user machines and when you have laptop user they will have two printers of the same type. Open the options for the .RDP file, LOCAL RESOURCES and UNCHECK printers. In this way, users will never have redirected printers. -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. Du kannst auch auf Deutsch schreiben. May 12, 201113 yr Your user will have two identical printers. 1 -> terminal server with its own properties 2 -> directly mapped to the NB / WS with its own properties When he changes something on the local printer, this doesn't affect the TS's printer and viceversa. -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. May 12, 201113 yr Author I meant user have a local printer on his machine that connected to printer by USB and your saying i need to share this out for the Terminal Server to pick this up?
May 12, 201113 yr I meant user have a local printer on his machine that connected to printer by USB and your saying i need to share this out for the Terminal Server to pick this up? Uh wait. I thought that all printers where network's printers... plugged to a Win Srv. In this scenario (with USB printer) you can just redirect the printer via "LOCAL RESOURCES" (the flag I told you to disable before) and I think there's no way to save settings... -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. July 20, 201113 yr Author I have solved this now. By making Sure Microsoft Net Framework 3.5 is installed on Client pc and using the esay print drivers on the Server.
July 20, 201113 yr I have solved this now. By making Sure Microsoft Net Framework 3.5 is installed on Client pc and using the esay print drivers on the Server. This works but with EASY DRIVER, if you need specif driver, it will not work. -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais.
