Guest BCVolkert Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 This worked for me. I have Office 2003, not 2007. Microsoft Update wanted to install KB972581 but it would always fail. As suggested, I ran the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack (FileFormatConverters.exe) installation and it failed as predicted. Without rebooting, I ran the Office Installer Cleanup Tool and removed the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack. Without rebooting, I ran the Update from the shield in the system tray and it installed. PERFECT ! ! ! I'm using XP Pro SP3, Office 2003 SP3 "n5mj" wrote: > On Oct 16, 10:43 am, TheDane > wrote: > > I have tried x times to run the windows update inorder to install the 2 > > security update for MS 2007 Office System > > KB972581 and KB972434 > > > > Each attemp fails. > > > > I am using > > Windows OS 7 Enterprise (6.1.7600) > > Office 2007 SP2 (12.0.6504.5000) > > > > What to do? > > Same problem here.
