CD/DVD drive shows wrong icon when I place a disc in the drive

I just debugged the same problem. My issues started b/c of iTunes and

GearASPI drivers, but even after I fixed those issues, and restored

Autoplay I still was missing the icon with every disc put in.

For me the solution was uninstalling from the control panel the

"Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller" which is the parent of my DVD

drive. Once I let Windows reinstall the controller and subsequently the

DVD drive, the icons started to work once again.

Looks like I've finally straightened out all my DVD woes.
