Guest joseph meservy Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 This occurs sometimes with laptops after an update. You can boot safemode, but after a regular boot up, logging into your account, the computer logs you onto the desktop then reboots the computer after 1-5 seconds. Doing a System Restore to a prior date (achieved by safemode with command prompt: rstrui.exe) doesn't fix it. SOLUTION: Unplug the laptop Remove the battery from the laptop Wait 20 seconds, put the battery back in, plug the computer back it. Startup and behold your genius. Computer is back to normal. =) just smile and laugh that it was so easy. (I ran virus checks, checked the ntbtlog.txt and simply put spent 4 hours looking for the error before it dawned on me it could be something totally different). -- joseph meservy ------------------------------------------------------------------------ joseph meservy's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/202726.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/969665.htm http://forums.techarena.in Quote
