Burned data CDs not being read by DVD writer

Hi,

For no apparent reason my HP 1040i DVD writer has stopped reading burned

data CDs.

I post the question here as it is readable on my wife's Windows 7 laptop.

I also thought it might be to do with Roxio as, under properties, "Use with

DLA" is permanently ticked but I have tried on another 2000 installation

without Roxio with the same result.

Any help would be appreciated.
