I'm a friend of David(bd), and I consider him to be a fine gentlemen, too

boot. He does ask alot of questions, but that's just his way of finding out

if people are who they say they are or if they are good or bad. As far as

disabling system restore, it would appear that there are differing opinions

on the matter...

You are BoaterDaves partner in Trolling and among other things. As is evident from

your post here. David Brooks does not give advice at least none that is useful. He

is the master of copy\paste and that of hijacking answers from others. His

reputation ,well let us just say is non existent. You have no idea either what the

issue and the correct answer for the OP actually is\was. Sock puppets need not post

here Jenn. Get a life

Wow! That is *real* fighting talk Mr Foldes! :)

Jenn is a fine lady. A mother of three, whom she home-schooled until

they were in their late teens, and is also a (young!) grandmother. She

has been happily married to a great guy for 30 years too.

She has many skills and has a full-time job as the webmaster for a TV

station in Oklahoma, USA. Jenn was once employed by MSN as a sysop and

has been involved with newsgroups for many, many years. I'm sure she

will be somewhat offended to be referred to as a 'sock-puppet'!

Jenn *has* a life - what about *you* Peter Foldes?

--

Dave - She also loves flowers! :)

As a bd groupie and lover wannabe your reputation is suspect.

You self proclaim to be a web master yet your outdated IE 6

system was infected with Trojans.

Go back from where you came little missy.

After reading this entire thread, Dave(BD) actually gave Meg some very good

advice along the way. He is quite helpful, imo.

LOL You always do what bd tells you to do.

Hope it pays well because like your outdated system you

are going to get infected.

Dave(BD) did tell me to read this particular thread, so I did. That's what

friends do for friends ... I see no issue with me doing that. (there are too

many people named david these days.........) You are davidL.... anyway ...

it makes not difference relating to my observation. Peter Foldes gave bad

advice to meg and Dave(bd) gave her better advice. I really don't see why

anyone should call Dave(bd) a troll simply because he gave different advice.

That's 5th grade behavior, and as far as I have read... everyone here are

adults.

As a user, just like you, I *completely* understand how you feel.

Hmmm! This is *not* a Forum, Meg. I could be difficult and ask you to to

describe *here* to me - but I'll be gentle, as you have been so pleasant

to everyone in this thread. :)

From your Header (message 'properties') I see this:-

NNTP-Posting-Host: tk2msftsbfm01.phx.gbl 10.40.244.148

That indicates to me that you are posting from the Microsoft Communities

pages on the WWW - i.e. you have used a browser and have typed

http://www.microsoft.com into the address bar, etc.

What you do *not* realise AFAICT is that you are, in fact, linked up to

Usenet from which *anyone, anywhere*, can post messages to this group.

They might be good guys or bad guys - there really is absolutely no way

of knowing! The law of averages (if there was one!) says that there

*MUST* be bad guys here too! btw, I'm a good guy! )

> Perhaps I'm too naive.

I was, too, when I first came to the Microsoft groups seeking answers to

my questions about malware - after I had £245 taken fraudulently from my

bank account nearly 5 years ago!

> I'll keep in mind though, that I should be careful not just jump on

Usenet is, IMO, a *very* dangerous place for the unwary. This has at

last been recognised by Microsoft which is slowly switching over to a

much safer Forum format for providing answers to user's questions.

Application of the term troll is highly subjective. Some readers may

characterize a post as trolling, while others may regard the same post as a

legitimate contribution to the discussion, even if controversial. The term

is often used as an ad hominem strategy to discredit an opposing position by

attacking its proponent.

Often, calling someone a troll makes assumptions about a writer's motives.

Regardless of the circumstances, controversial posts may attract a

particularly strong response from those unfamiliar with the robust dialogue

found in some online, rather than physical, communities. Experienced

participants in online forums know that the most effective way to discourage

a troll is usually to ignore him or her, because responding tends to

encourage trolls to continue disruptive posts — hence the often-seen

warning: "Please do not feed the trolls".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)

There is no such thing as a troll on the internet .. only people.

Everyone will post something that someone can say is

inflammatory/extraneous,off-topic... etc. By that definition, everyone is a

troll who has anything to say that someone isn't going to like. Calling

someone a 'troll' is just plain intellectual laziness and akin to 5th

graders who toss 5th grade insults at each other on the play ground.
