Hi, I have been removing old unnecessary data from a Windows 2003

Server w/ SP2. I created a folder called “Lost and Foundâ€. If I was

not entirely sure if I could remove a folder I moved it to the “Lost

and Found†folder to be dealt with later.

Here is the odd part. Overnight on three occasions folders, that

obviously contained production data, have been moved into my new “Lost

and Found†folder. I did not move the folders. None of our other

staff have moved the folders. Is there some significance to naming a

folder “Lost and Found†that I am not aware of? I have searched

TechNet and Google and cannot find any significance to naming a folder

“Lost and Found†in this context.

I have checked all of our logs. I see no evidence of a malicious

prankster. In the mean time I have renamed my “Lost and Found†folder

to something else and setup auditing on access for the folder.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

John
