Vista does not recognize SD card.

hi,

i have a problem with my laptop. i have inbuilt card reader with two slots

for 1) sd card reader and 2) sony m2 card reader. i inserted the m2 card

into the sd card slot by mistake and then managed to retrieve it. now

everytime i try to use my sd card in the sd slot, i am asked if i want to

format the sd card!

if i use an external usb sd card reader then the sd card works

satisfactorily. so, the problem seems to be the sd card slot in the laptop.

also, whilst windows vista was updating, i ran the combofix utility, which

did not run well. but now i have managed to remove the update and the

combofix and windows vista runs ok.

Q1) has the sd card solt been damaged, as i am asked to format the sd card

everytime time i try to use it in the sd slot.

Q2) is there a windows vista fault remanent from the initial run of the

combofix utility and windows vista update inconjunction.

thanks for your reply/s.

regards,
