Unlock computer delay

I've seen this same issue posted by others across the internet, but I have

yet to find a solution posted for it. I lock my system when I walk away and

when I go to unlock it and enter my password, their is a 60 second delay

until the desktop is redrawn. I can move my mouse, and my programs continue

to run since I can hear audio players still playing, but I have to wait to do

anything. Any ideas on how this happens and where to look for a fix? It

happens even when I first boot up and do no start any programs, but simply

attempt to lock/unlock the session.
