Good afternoon. I am having a problem with Windows 2008 x64 (this is a

terminal server). I am trying to use Windows Explorer to view the contents

of the “C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files†directory. For previous

versions of Windows, this directory would show me the ActiveX controls that

are installed. However, with Windows 2008, it is not displaying anything.

If I open up a command prompt and list the directory, it shows me the file

contents just fine (there are no hidden files or anything). However, from

the command prompt, I can’t properly remove ActiveX controls (because of

registry settings, etc.). And these are not ActiveX controls that can be

managed from IE. I’ve also gone in and tried to reset the folder, I’ve

unchecked “Hide protected operating system filesâ€Â, etc. but to no avail.

I also read somewhere that this may be because of the desktop.ini file

(actually what I read was for a different version of Windows but maybe it

will work here?). Anyway, if I try to delete desktop.ini from the command

prompt, I receive an “access denied†message. Does anyone know how I can

remove the desktop.ini file (or at least rename it)?

Or has anyone experienced this before with an empty "Downloaded Program

Files" directory? Is this something with Windows 2008? It has been driving

me nuts. Thanks in advance for any assistance,
