I'm sorry, but with Windows, I don't have to upgrade from Windows XP to Vista to get, say, my sound card to work. Why should I have to upgrade from a perfectly stable Linux (CentOS 5.2) to an unstable Linux (Ubuntu 8.10, which was so bad I reinstalled ...
