Posted October 15, 200816 yr A user had some files on a Windows 2000 file server that they had set to deny access to everyone. To fix it, I took ownership of the folder and its contents. Although she had assured me she was out of the folder, she in fact had two files open. Those two files are no longer available to anyone. When I go into permissions, it tells me that I do not have access but that I can take ownership. When I go to the ownership tab, however, there is no edit button so I can take ownership. I tried restoring from backup but the permissions did not restore. Is there another way to take ownership of these two files? -- Bettie
