xphome cmd fails, sort of

Hi
What happens is the command box launches long enough for me to see it, about
1/2 sec, and then closes.
Start->run->cmd->enter, and the box flashes and closes.
Any idea about how I can fix this?

Thanks Rich,
It helped, but it's bad news. A lot of my files have been changed from exe
to ex_, dll to dl_, etc.
I run AVG on this computer so I guessed it missed this one. Looks like too
much to do manually.
I guess I'll back up, etc., and re-install windows. oi-vey...
