First a couple of apologies. I googled this extensively before posting
here, but could not find a solution. Secondly , I apologise for
posting through Google groups, my ISP doesn't offer nntp and I'm skint
at the moment, so no Giganews et al for me.

I had a call from a friend today concerned because her XP Home won't
boot up properly. After having been turned off by her literally
pulling the plug last night, now she gets a message that Windows
wouldn't start properly and offering her several options, Safe Mode,
Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Last known
good configuration and Start Windows normally. None work . That is to
say they all start, the Windows XP splash sceen comes up, then
"warning: about to enter sleep mode", and the system reboots. Is there
a way to fix this?
