I've been trying to run SP3 on my XP Pro on both my frankenstein hand-made
PC, and my SOny VAIO notebook with stock installation - both give an Access
Denied failure during install.

Suggestions on why????

Hello Adrian,

Error message when you try to install Windows XP Service Pack 3: "Access is
denied" or “Service Pack installation did not completeâ€

try this too

you can also download dial-a-fix at

http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix#Mirrors.2Fdownload_locations.2C_and_articles

You can we try to reset the permission by performing a Secedit.

Click on tools and then scroll down and select reset permission, it will do
it automatically and once the step is completed restart the computer and
then perform your installation.

You can we check in registry if there is an restricted user account created
you can remove it manually

this is what i did one of my computers when this happened and it worked
