I have a JVC GR-D72US digital camera. I have installed all of the drivers for
XP that came with the camera. I can use the firewire to download video to my
computer (I use Pinnacle Studio Plus 10.7 software, but can also use Movie
Maker as well). When I try to use the USB connection to dl images stored on
my memory card, the pc does not recognize my cameral. I can use a USB card
reader to transfer images without problems.

When I connect the camera to the usb port, I hear the two-tone sound that
identifies that the device is connected to the pc through the usb port.
However, in opening My Computer, there is not a device listed for the usb
camera. I can go to the device manager, to the disk management tab, and see
that the camera is mounted as drive "G", which would be correct since I have
two 250gb hard drives, mounted as "C", "D", "E", and a dvd burner mounted as
drive "F".

The ImageMixer software that came with my camera gives the message that a
Camcorder is not found. The camera itself, displays on the lcd screen that
the camera is in USB Mode, and that it is Accessing Files. It just locks up
at that point. In device manager, if I look at the disk drives, it shows a
drive for my JVC GR-D72 USB device. I can right click on the device and click
on properties, and I am told that the device is working properly. At this
point I am truly puzzled. Device Manager and Disk Management both say that
the USB device is present and working properly, however there is no disk
identified in either My Computer or Windows Explorer.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to set up XP for this USB transfer?

Thanks, and Merry Christmas!
