XP pro clean install error

ERROR.
Installation Failed: F\1386\ASMS. Error Message. The Device Is Not Ready.
xxx
Fatal Error:
One of the components that Windows needs to continue set up could not be
installed, the device is not ready.

I get this error when I attempt to do a clean install of XP pro. I have no
OS on the computer at this time.

Clean the CD itself...
Check the connection between the CD drive and the motherboard.
Blow the dust out of the CD drive.
If you can - use a different CD drive.
