XP Media Center OS and Multi-Core Processors

A quick question: I'm doing the initial design of a new media center
machine and the processor that looks like it offers the most "bang for
the buck" along with a bit of growth potential at the moment seems to be
an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. Since the computer will truly be in a
super-compact media center PC my thought was to buy an OEM XP Media
Center license and install that but then I began to wonder -- this OS's
description reads like a slightly amended XP Home and then I got to
wondering if it would even work with a quad core CPU. The online
documentation for the OS is, to say the least, non-helpful, reading as a
fluff piece to sell the technophobic on the wonders of buying a PC with
this OS already installed.

So, as long as I don't need to join a domain or do anything vaguely
"work-like" with the OS is it likely to work in a modern purpose-built
quad-core PC? My home network is wired (mostly) Gigabit Ethernet with
two XP workstations, a W2K system which acts as a file server, and two
networked laser printers. Everything is in the same workgroup.
