Primary Problem;
Post fine (FF)
Windows copies files
Reboots
Starts actual install
Fails with

Fatal error
An error has been encountered that prevents setup from continuing.

One of the components that windows needs to continue setup could not be
installed.

The parameter is incorrect.

Log file gives;

Fatal Error
Installation Failed: E\I386\ASMS. Error Message. The Parameter is Incorrect.

During all this constant beep from system speaker. Just noticed it starts at
post 27, have to look that up.

Went to Microcrap site ASMS files are good, also I used same disk for this
machine.

1st attempt,
Everything in. (Yes I now know 32bit cant’t take 4 gig of mem but I’m not
brave enough to go to Vista yet.)
HD’s set to 3GB trans rate by jumper.
Jmicron RAID drives to Floppy
BIOS set to raid 1

2nd attempt,
Same but remembered to clear CMOS first

3rd attempt,
Same but Intel Raid drives used
4th,
Same but Bios left to IDE

5th,
Removed 2 mem sticks from 2 & 4
Back to intel Raid

6th,
Removed 2nd XFX card

7th,
Set drive jumpers back to limit drives to 1.5gb trans rate

Clues?

The ASMS error is almost always caused by a bad burn or a damaged copy of the
XP setup disk.

REPLACEMENT MS CDs - 800-360-7561 - - OEM CDs that are out of business - 1
