I just installed XP Home on a newly formatted hard drive. Then I changed my
mind and installed XP PRO over it. In both cases, Standby was not
available.
When I do Start - Turn off computer I get the usual box that gives me the
options of Stand by - Turn Off - Restart. But the Stand By is grayed out.
When I right-click on the desktop - Properties - Screen Saver tab, I get the
usual time options for turning off the monitor and hard drive but Standby is
not an option at all.
What is happening and how do I get the Standby option back? Thanks for your
time. Otto

You need to install the latest drivers for you video adapter. These drivers
should be available from the web site of the manufacturer of your computer or
video card.

Good luck
