xp existing programs transfer to 8.1 pro

I am trying to transfer my existing xp pro PROGRAMS to my new computer which has an 8.1 pro OS.... data (not programs) is backed up on flash drives... now want to complete transfer of programs et al.....via transfer cable ..(which i have).. if possible.. but have no new 8.1 pro software program disc to use to start process. PLEASE ADVISE... THANKS!!!
