Windows 2000 WSUS Patching

I have server 2003 environment which is far behind in terms of patch
management, my question is there any process/procedure for patching DC
and Servers?
i would like to know whether the DCs has to be patched first before any
other widows server 2003 in the environment....

This you would put in place, such as doing it during a time when the reboot
will not disrupt users.........applying the patches to the test environment
(if you have one) and have enough time before rolling the patches out to
production servers, to test the patches.
