Hi Everybody,

can I somehow turn off the writing cache for Windows 2008?

Thank you

Ole

Hello Ole,

Do you mean the writing cache from the harddisk? Open device manager with
devmgmt.msc form the run line, disk drives, properties of your disk and Policies
tab.

Hi Meinolf,

I have looked up this tab, it seems to be
Laufwerke|Eigenschaften|Richtlinien in German. But the button for the cache
is greyed and the radio button is set to 'on'.

BTW: I _am_ Administrator, I have double-checked that.

Any other way to switch that thing off?

Thank you

Ole

Hello Ole,

Check out this one (even it is not stated for 2008):
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/227363-36-cannot-disable-write-cache-hard-drives

Did you talk to the harddisk vendor about your problem, maybe it's only to
see but not used? What is the reason for disabling it?

Best regards

I have a Promise SuperTack 8350 with a RAID 5 array. And I have just the
problems described in the article. The only difference is that the problems
are not 'cosmetic' but annoying.

I will try to contact Promise or do you have another suggestion?

thanks

Ole
