Word is not working properly

An internet site that has forms that I usually open in Word is not opening properly anymore. When I attempt to open the window it reads "opening in secure view" and it simply does not open. If I save the file and attempt to open in word then it reads "adobe Reader can not open report.xls because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged; i.e. not correctly coded or is sent by email. The only way I can open the file is by saving it from the site and editing it from the word icon without actually opening word.

I have reinstalled Adobe, but it still does not open. Help
