Maybe we're misunderstanding each other.
What _I'M_ suggesting is that for you to insert information into a
Header/Footer, you first need to create one before using any options in the
Autotext dialog box.
To initially create a Header/Footer, you should first click on the View
option in the Title Bar. Then, from the drop-down menu, click on the Header
and Footer selection. This will show you a dotted outline of the Header into
which you can THEN click on any of the Autotext selections to insert the
appropriate fields that are available.
Please let me know if I'm not correctly understanding what you are
attempting to accomplish.
