I have just brought a wireless router and PCI card for my old PC a PII 233mhz and upon reading the box of the PCI card - it says it requires a P3 class processor. I havent tried it, as i didnt want to break the sellophane. Realistically will it work?

It should work. The problem is it will take all processor resources when in use and slow down your computer.

In addition, is there a way to test was PCI version a computer has installed? I didnt realise there was different version. Incidentally how long along was 2.2 realised? It is recent or ages ago? And would a PCI 2.2 device likely to work an older PCI version, if necessary?

Excellent thanks, i am not worried about the speed of the PC, as its only for my dad to browse the Internet with. Realistically an old 486 could probably do that perfectly well.

Incidentally, from my research.

PII pc's generally have 2.1 PCI bus, PIII's generally have 2.2 PCI bus. 2.2 will not work in 2.1, even at a slower rate.

Some software from Sisoftware tells you everything like this, and is really good - they also do some shareware, which is what i used.
