wireless connection shows connected but won't display web page's

I have a laptop that I can hard wire and get access to the internet but when
I try and use the wireless option, I can't get on the web, the wireless
conection shows that it is connected but no web pages will display. I have
removed IE cach, history cookies and also run virus scan, adaware, and spybot
scans and have even tried to do a repair on the connection. I have also run
the winsock fix, but to no avail. any ideas?
