I am trying to install a Logitech MX3200 keyboard/mouse combo that ses a usb
wireless receiver. This receiver should be recognized by XP as a Human
Interface Device and install appropriate drivers that come with XP. It does
that just fine on two computers at home, but not the third which is mine. It
keeps wanting me to input the location for the drivers. I coppied over all
the hid*.* files from another computer, but still won't work. how can i
properly restore these usb hid drivers or get them to work?

You probably need the *.INF used by the drivers to install. The Driver tab
for the device in device manager properties should list the INF to copy over.

i copied over the hiddev.inf file. it then started installing the drivers on
it's own, but when done couldn't install because it said something about the
driver info file being written for win95 or later.....well DUH!! so now it
seems like the inf and sys files aren't compatible, even though i copied them
over from a system that does function properly.

My guess would be that you need an INF from a different system, or a setup CD
for the device. They may run a site with those drivers available.
