My daughter has a system that when you boot it up and it is asking for the
password, you can type it in on the keyboard, but after Windows XP starts,
you can not input anything from the keyboard. You can launch programs using
the mouse, but nothing with the keyboard... why?

If XP uses an interrupt signal, but the BIOS does not, I would suspect the
cable. Otherwise, I would suspect the XP driver.

Go to Device Manager and Uninstall the Keyboard, and then check for new
hardware to reinstall it.
