Windows XP via Dell

All of a sudden Windows XP will not completely boot on my Dell desk top. Never, ever had this problem before. Turn on the pc and it looks like Dell is opening, it doesn't do anything but eventually the windows start screen comes up. It does absolutely nothing. The pc then goes back to Dell. That still does nothing except I can to to F2 or F12. Been there, done that countless tiimes. All I ever get is __________0 seek failure. Then I can click F1 that doesn't help so I press escape and in a flash of a nano-second something comes up that I can't read because it's so fast. Have tried Pause/Break but that can't catch it. Have held down F1 and Pause/Break at the same time. Still can't read what it says. Something about installing.

Totally stressed as support for XP is ending very, very soon. I can't switch over to 8.1 if I can't get into windows.

Whoever decided it's "Murphy's Law" was way off. It should be "Sandi's Law". I'm affraid to get out of bed any more 'cuz I know something is going to go wrong that day!

Wish this had a spell checker. Sorry about any mis-spellings.
