Windows XP suddenly asking for user passwords?

This is the 3rd time this has happened in the last year. Suddenly at the
Welcome Screen all the user accounts are being prompted for passwords. There
are no passwords set. I have in the past reset the screensaver and power
options to no password, and run the control userpasswords2 to change the
password option in the Admin control panel.

How and why are these settings getting changed, and how can I keep it from
happening again?

OK, I may have thought of an answer to the "why." I was moving some files
from one user profile to another, and right after that I tried to switch user
profiles. When I got to the Welcome Screen, that's when I started getting the
password prompts. So maybe XP got confused somehow?

Anyway, is there a better way to move files between profiles, or should this
just not be done at all?

One thought... using the Shared Documents folder.

OK, thanks C J., will try that for future. Now this morning I'm getting the
"Cannot log in to the Admin. account because of an account restriction"
message. Behind that I can see that the Admin. account name and password
prompt box popped up. Is there a way I can get rid of that? I was
fortunately able to proceed with logging on to my own account without being
asked for a pw.
