windows xp media player

I have a cd/rw on my computer however windows xp media player won't let
me burn a disk. it states for me to install a burner. I replaced the
cd/rw with a sony dvd R/W and still get the msg. to install a burner.
Device mgr. shows dvd r/w is installed. any ideas why media player
won't find the burner? I have ver.11 media player and tried a rollback
to ver.10 still the same msg. reinstalled ver.11 still can't find the
burner.

Did you check the "Recording" tab when you Right Click on the DVD
drive in "My Computer?"
