Windows XP error

wntw

When my computer restarts after the file-copy portion of Windows XP install,
I receive the following error message: Missing operating system. If I put the
same hard drive using the same install disc into another computer, it works
fine. What could be the problem?
 
Boot to setup CD. Press 'r' for the Recovery Console prompt. Run the commands

FIXMBR

then:

FIXBOOT

Try setup again.

No, it didn't fix my problem. I still get a missing operating system msg.

The Mobo or the BIOS not configured correctly or outdated.
If the MObo = Overheated or burnt Thermal Component.

This motherboard and cpu are new. I am trying to set it up. The bios is et
just as the other machine that I was using but I guess I could be missing
something. I can't seem to find the problem.

If the system is new, and if the hard disk is SATA, confirm that the
motherboard settings to allow booting from SATA drives in hte presence of
PATA hardware are correct. On some systems (mine, for example) there's a
specific configuration for this.

I am not using a SATA HD, it's PATA and as far as I have been able to see,
it's set up right. Where would I find the config incase I'm just missing it?
