After having completed a total wipe and rebuild, using genuine Windows XP disk purchased from Dell, I have had nothing but trouble after installing SP3. I cannot get the Windows Updates to run I cannot get downloaded programs to install and I cannot get Windows Defender to update the definitions so I unistalled it. I have found a work around, sometimes, on the installtion issue. I can go to Start and Run and type in Services.msc and then go to windows installer and right click on it and restart it and then try and reinstall and sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't. For Windows Defender and Windows Updates it does not. I have tried every self help thing there is and either they won't download or they won't run after I download them so they are of no use to me
