I have been plagued with this error for months and cannot find a solution that will work. I have installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 SP1 32-bit. Windows searched for updates and they all installed without problems. I made windows search again for updates
to see if there were any others and now I get the 80072EFE error. I have tried all of the fixes I have found on the Internet. There is no virus protection currently on the machine to interfere. Windows firewall is turned off. Other computers have no issue
updating so there should not be a problem with the Internet filter or the router. I have had this happen on multiple machines from different vendors. I have tried both wired and wireless connections. I'm really frustrated with Microsoft right now. Please help.
