I have my computer configured for auto updates. This morning after it
ran I still kept getting the notice saying that there were updates
waiting to be installed. There is one update that doesn't complete.:
"Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB928365)"
Any ideas on why it won't install? The notifier keeps popping up telling
me to install it.

How strange, because I am having the same problem with the same security
update file KB928365. Started today 7/11/07, I ran it twice already, and
keeps saying "Installation complete", but the Update Icon keeps reappering on
my task bar, with the same update. Checked Add/Remove Programs, and it
indicates that that update is installed "Security Update For Microsoft .NET
Framework Ver 2.2), except it does not indicate a size (MB) or date of
installation .
Anyone have a fix on how to get rid of this update icon ?

Here are some links to some screenshots that I took of the same problem. I
have 7 updates that won't install and keep prompting me to install. I am
getting tired of all the issues with Vista to say the least! My coomputer
crashes when it awakes from sleep mode and asks me for permission to run
certain programs. Oh well. Here are the links.

Has anyone had any luck with fixing this issue? Thanks in advance.

Am I missing something somewhere? I tried searching my computer for AT and nothing.

sharonf,
After doing some extensive research and searching, I found a fix for the
update issue. I have attached a link to a screenshot of the instructions. I
am running Vista Home Premium and when I get to the Local Services folder, it
has a service called Windows Updates instead of the Automatic Updates that
are in the instructions. Other than that, everything else is the same. In
Vista the Run feature is actually a window with a search icon in it as soon
as you click on Start. I followed the instructions and everything worked
fine. I have no re-occuring update icon in my Tray and nothing pop-up and
prompts me to install. Hope this helps. Here is the link to the screenshot.

Winnie, I don't know if your problem is that same as mine, but I
contacted Microsoft, followed their instructions and the solution seems
to have worked for me. Here is what I did:

Step 1: Download Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp utility
============================================
1. Visit:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/9/D/E9D80355-7AB4-45B8-80E8-983A48D5E1BD/msicuu2.exe
<http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/9/D/E9D80355-7AB4-45B8-80E8-983A48D5E1BD/msicuu2.exe>

2. Save the file to your Desktop.
3. Install this tool on your computer.

Step 2: Remove .NET Framework
========================
1. Click Start -> (All) Programs->Windows Installer Clean Up.

2. Please locate any .NET Framework software and remove it.

3. Restart the computer and see if the problem still exists.

For more information, please refer to:

After that, please perform the following suggestions to reinstall .NET
Framework 2.0 and the update for it.

Step 3: Reinstall .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package and
the updates for it
====================================================================
1. Please download the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0
Redistributable Package from the following link and save it to the Desktop.
